Catherine Yetive Review
I think the main thing that hit me with this fic was the character development. Very much like they are in the show, the characters rang true in their distinctive personalities while sending McGee on a little adventure with his emotions--his loyalty to his job and his new feelings for Leese... It was all very believable. Well written, a great idea, very original and not at all boring, made me keep scrolling (since I can keep turning pages with something on the computer...) and I was very captivated. The idea itself was very good. Instead of being limited to the crime, like some fic writers choose to do so they don't get lost, it spread through the crime idea and gave a bit of humor and emotions and real stuff going on, like the episodes normally do.
I admit to being a total McGee freak. Love, love, love, love, LOVE him, and I thought it was time he got himself a lady friend. Abby doesn't appear to be coming around for the geeky guy, so I thought creating a character for him was awesome! She was real and believable and the connection to McGee was very real. Instead of creating characters, Catherine created people.
Catherine Yetive is a Warrior of Writing because she identifies what she wants to write and does an utterly fantastic job of it. Narration stayed strong throughout the whole thing, as did the characters. It was clear that the most important points of the fic were thought out so the readers weren't confused and were clearly displayed so we got the jist of it. Plainly summed up, this fic rocked my socks, and I think Catherine is an incredible writer with incredible talent. This fic remains possibly my favorite NCIS fan fiction...ever.
